Snake, oil and collage on canvas, 5x7 in. 2012
Not painting much this year, just little things.
Here's a scan of one.
Seen a couple snakes already this year.

Furniture

Thinking about a project coming up with Lucky Penny.  Building the first run of the furniture conglomerate sculptures during their project Threshold to be held in Aug.  This really a challenge because the way I was taught to build is very intuitive and I need to be able to talk and describe things clearly for the other collaborators to think about.  It makes me reminisce
about how Dad built all those houses by himself, barely scratching together the necessary permits. Maybe because it was so difficult to find someone who could work with him.
I digress; building that little house in the Ewing showed me that I had got the picture.  It was easy to build what I had imagined.  I wish I had a better image to show you, but the external harddrive holding the documentation for this project was stolen from the U.S. Postal system while in transit from Knoxville to L.A.

So this idea that I have...

working in communion-cadence-cooperative.

In relation to the cardboard=ephemeral, shipping, transit.
visual/textural=dry, corrugated, neutral.
Furniture on the lawn, an eviction or desertion which dissipates.
Who is leaving, and in what state of mind?
How do we feel about the element of abandonment?
Should it be purely decorative?
Am I freed from the constraints of utility and public safety?
Cause I was thinking of towers.
 originally towers to be climbed.
I like having a base of gray with other elements (persian rugs I want) to play with.

What my garage looks like right now, in warm and cold tones.

It's been awhile since I took a straight portrait, but had to for my school ID.
Here I am, the graduate student.
3rd grade
Took a long time to grow out of the cold sores and scruffiness.
I love the bow and being a grown-up,
and I dig having good eyebrows evnthough
they didn't grow in til after puberty.
It's still getting better, all of it.
I'm totally in my prime.
*lol* it's awfully nice to feel good about myself.

The restriction of sexuality is stupid, it plays right into the might makes right thing.  WHY?  That hard power/soft power dynamic is so alluring, is that why it's still such a point of contention?
Why enable seduction when the world is for pummeling?
And while we're at it, let's make seduction entirely about fucking, not communication.

Went and saw Pinch and Ouch Theatre's production of David Mamet's Speed the Plow last week.
What a consumate depiction of the old boys club and the futility of sexual inducement as a convincing power (for a deeper cause, albeit a "naive" one;  "naive" being the cause of a more spiritual, connected world) in our current ecosystem.  What would the world look like if sexuality was a validated tool?  Would we be more like our cousins, the Bonobos; matriarchal, amicable, and amorous (fun!) or remain as chimpanzees with the wars and screaming (boring, destructive!)?  Yes, would our chemistry even allow a shift?

Honey and vinegar, let's stop being so fucking filthy minded and live a little.
Wow, this person has made
models of almost all of the Solar System's moons.
I couldn't resist this image.  It showed up while doing google searches for my moon images.  I've gotten about 1/3 of the way through Jupiter's moons.  This was found under Thyone, who is also the Goddess of Bacchalian frenzy.  Juicy eh?
