d's bridesmaid

Holly Dahlia Jones
There's something about sucessful celebrations of tradition. I just returned from a gold friend's elaborate wedding. She spent the last year planning, and it came off beautifully. Not being one for believing in (perceived) cliches such as bachelor/ette parties, or the dual-hand cutting of cakes, or the institution of marriage in general, now I'm holding breath as my mind changes.

this is an adorable commercial for the little paintings show that one of my monsters is in.

odelah

I'm here, in downtown L.A.;
home of pee sunshine, La Marzocco expresso machines,
a mass of bats, and staggering life.

I spend most of my time up on the 12th floor of the Rosslyn Hotel,
painting or drawing or obsessively checking email,
and wondering what I'm gonna gather to eat in a few hours.
I'm a believer in practice.

Absurd, I found the fantasy, and it's deliciously complex,
as I look to record the grotesque and the gorgeous.
Binary thought is narrow,
but can be the bones of something true.

So these are some scraps for fleshing.
We're all lost in our bubble phantasms, overlapping,
coloring each others days with glances and comments.
I simply want to keep from forgetting, it all goes so fast.

monsters

I'm just finishing 6 months of monsters. With hindsight, they began last summer on a train. I had an amazing conversation (one of many) regarding the mutant faces of memory and experience while searching cross country for a place to live (there's a blog for Craig Kandel that details that trip at americanoutsiderart.com).

i don't know what to think of them,
as they just came out this way.
all of last fall and winter, and
somehow they make me feel ashamed,
although i can't put my finger on why.
strange amalgamations; comic, clumsy, a little fearful,
lush, fleeting and ponderous (posible)
