collage on lazer inkjet print
one day last fall my pops (master scavenger) called me up to share a find.  his friend, who manages a recycling center, had gotten an entire warehouse full of books destined to be destroyed due to out-of-print dates.  imagine, trashing boxes and boxes of glossy print books simply because they are no longer being sold at profit.  i mean boxes the size of cars full of dusty new books ranging from the adkins diet to the cunt coloring book.  seriously.  so we raided the warehouse and i've been cutting them up for these "distraction" collages (between paintings/when too tired to stand and paint) ever since.  they accompany the ephemralogica book i made last year, some of which can be seen on the ephemralogica page.
the paper lazer print-outs are from a man whose name i can not remember.  we were working together in the UTK print studio sometime during the spring of 2006 and he was about to throw them out.
so in essence these prints are made completely of salvage.  which is nice cause those damn paintings cost a fortune to make.
and suddenly i'm so very tired of making the paintings about solitude, and told jose unexpectedly that i wanted to make a painting of people
in a room, just talking or reaching for their drinks,
fingertips on a plant leaf or glaring or kissing each other.

so i just had this thought,
that actually;
possibly
fights or something,
some violent suprising action,
maybe girl fights cause
that gun-toting woman professor
from alabama keeps
haunting me with thoughts of
a scorned feminine brutality.
and if i'm not making paintings
about solitude
than i'd like to make something
about girlness.
that dark horse girl thing.
the fascination with the
flung feminine thing.
that stupid myth,
cause eventhougheverything
is dry rot
i do like to make myth live.
