The internet is the new marshmallow.
"Dynamism is the lyrical conception of forms, interpreted in the infinite manifestations of the relativity between absolute motion and relative motion, between the environment and the object which come together to form the appearance of a whole: environment + object."

--Dada-and-Futurist-Manifestos
"Where photography was once the medium of moments, it now appears as a deliberating, forensic medium of traces.  Overshadowed by television, video, and the internet, photography is coming to terms with its relative primitivism." (53)

I'm interested in the closed intimacy that comes with gazing (both voyeurism and appreciation) and how that separateness can be internalized.  And how that internalization is affected by time and digital processes.  That is a desire thing.
But, this experiment is about exploring my relationship with personal vision as it is mediated through technology.  The velvety darkness is captured by manipulating the timing of the shutter speed and flash while shooting.
Well, guess I'll just own that photographer thing.
It's nice to make a decision about what to focus on!

"My emotional life: dialectic between craving for privacy and need to submerge myself in a passionate relationship to another."

-Susan Sontag, Reborn: Journals and Notebooks, 1947-1963

Is another ever the reader or audience? What then of privacy?

Tom Won't Look.  2013

I'm writing a review of an exhibit of Emmett Gowin's work, thinking about his shots of Edith, and what it means to make photographs of your partner. T always hides his face from the camera, or if not, puts on his bored look.  He won't address the camera, he won't look at it.  What does intimate partnership mean?
